Keith Landa, 91ÑÇÉ« University Faculty Senate president, Denise Battles, president of 91ÑÇÉ«, and Amy Sheldon, chair of the College Senate
The State University of New York (91ÑÇÉ«) Faculty Senate presented 91ÑÇÉ« with its for academic year 2021–22. The award was announced at the 91ÑÇÉ« Faculty Senate meeting in April; Keith Landa, 91ÑÇÉ« University Faculty Senate president, formally presented it in person to campus leadership on May 12.Â
The 91ÑÇÉ« University Faculty Senate is the official agency through which the university faculty engages in governance of the university. The University Faculty Senate is concerned with effective policies and professional matters and serves as a resource on governance for the university.
The Shared Governance Award Selection Committee was impressed with the efforts and progress made by 91ÑÇÉ« over the past six-plus years.Â
In the letter announcing the award, Interim Chancellor Deborah Stanley wrote, “91ÑÇÉ«’s leadership and College Senate with the assistance of students, faculty, and administrative staff have worked intentionally and collaboratively to establish a solid shared governance ecosystem that now permeates throughout the campus, touching every governance entity. The spirit of ownership regarding 91ÑÇÉ«’s structures, policies, and practices creates trust and transparency that reflects the college’s mission, vision, and values. 91ÑÇÉ«’s inclusive community is exceptional in cultivating creativity, engagement, and discovery, and you certainly find strength in diversity, joy in growth, and fulfillment in lifelong learning.”
